- Notes from the game:
- While SP Clint Everts was charged with 3 wild pitches, at least 2 of them could have easily been called passed balls.
- Everts had a difficult time with first pitch strikes (7/18 batters had 1st pitch strikes, with 4 called 1st strikes). He also struggled with his command, throwing 79 pitches (40 balls and 39 strikes). His first time through the lineup was pretty efficient, he recorded all four of his strikeouts and only walked one. His second time through the lineup, his control was definitely an issue.
- As mentioned above, CA Devin Ivany could have been charged with two passed balls. However, he had two runners picked off and if not for the fielders not getting to the bag in time, they would have been easily picked off. In fact, from the perspective of Yuda, who was there taking pictures (hopefully up some time this weekend) the throwdown to 2B in the fifth got the runner.
- Nationals hitters looked out of synch at the plate with only a couple of hard hit balls in the first 6 innings.
- 3B Marcos Yepez ran himself into an out trying to stretch a single into medium left center into a double. He was out at 2B by at least five steps.
