WOODBRIDGE, VA - The Potomac Nationals swept the Carolina League Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for the period ending on Sunday, August 6th. This is the first time this season that the Nationals have won both Player and Pitcher of the Week awards in the same week.
Marvin Lowrance, who hit .450 (9-20) to go along with a homerun and nine RBI, is the Player of the Week. Lowrance, who hit his first homerun in over 200 at-bats on Sunday, put up a .750 slugging percentage.
Zechery Zinicola, who was drafted by the Nationals this year in the 6th round, picked up the Pitcher of the Week award. Zinicola posted a record of 1-0 with two saves in three games. He did not allow a run in four innings of work. The right-hander allowed one hit and struck out four.
