Basil from Federal Baseball informed me of a rumor coming out of the Richmond area.
Greg Burton of ESPN Radio 950 (Red Zebra-owned) and WTVR CBS 6 is reporting a rumor that the Norfolk Tides may be interested in changing their affiliation to another team … the Washington Nationals
Presently, the Nationals AAA franchise is in New Orleans of the PCL and the Norfolk Tides are an International League team affiliated with the New York Mets. The agreement between the Nationals and New Orleans expires at the end of this season.
More as this story develops.

This would be really suprising but great if it happened.
I was hoping that it was Richmond that would get the AAA Nats with all of the stadium issues between the City and A-Braves.
With the Norfolk club, the Rosenfield’s have longstanding ties to the Mets so I am curious as to why they might be willing to part ways. This would also be good to help the Nats get on TV in the Hampton Roads market which is bigger than Richmond.

This is a fairly appealing scenario, though I suppose Richmond would be ideal. I would imagine Angelo$ would have eyes for Norfolk as well.
I have heard rumors (can’t recall from where though) that the Mets are interested in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, long-time home of the Phillies AAA team, which is moving to Allentown, I think. I can see how those moves make sense for both of those franchises.
