Josh Whitesell is smacking (.394 .488 OBP, .758 slug 1.245 OPS) the ball, was leading the AFL in hitting, and he doesn’t make the “Rising Stars” game? I guess its not based on performance! Koshansky makes it with a .182 avg, but has better potential.
But if its based on potential, then why Perrin? He’s OK, but not a “Rising Star”.

I’m guessing — (1) maybe they have the typical rule that each team has to be represented and Perrin is the easiest way to get a National on the team; or (2) 1B is jammed with talent, but they need pitching, and Perrin is among the best of what is available from the pitching pool in this year’s AFL.
