Clint Everts’ struggles continued as the P-Nats dropped their game 5-2 (box score/gamer) to the Wilmington Blue Rocks Thursday. Everts looked shaky in his third straight start, surrendering five hits and walking five leading to five runs in five plus innings pitched. Over his last three starts, Everts is 0-2 allowing sixteen hits, eleven walks, and fourteen earned runs in just 10 2/3 innings pitched while striking out only six. The Everts and Robert Sandora battery also had trouble with baserunners allowing six stolen bases without being caught. Potomac was led offensively by right fielder Edgardo Baez who had two hits and one RBI.

Sad to see Everts struggle again in A Ball after being a first round pick several years ago. Guess he is now off the radar and possibly considerd a non-prospect at this stage in his career. Only a phenomenal resurgence in his play can rekindle “prospect status”.

Sorry, but it’s pretty damn obvious that Everts does not have what it takes and needs to be either released or sent to the GCL to work out his control problems.

Hey Wooden,
Everts’ continued struggles reminds me of Josh Girdley, who was well thought of by the Expos, but never turned the corner or moved up the system.
Based on some past comments, you seem to be favourable towards Desmond . With a few more shortstop prospects in the “pipeline’, do you think he still has a future with the big club?
I have heard about his athleticm and defensive prowess for several years now, but his errors have been “ugly” at every level he has played. What I mean is that he has continually made some great plays and consistently booted or thrown wildly or had mental blocks for several years now. Must be somewhat frustrating to see the glimpses of a “star” and the “glitches” of “possible career minor leaguer”. thoughts?

Desmond may actually benefit by a move to 3B so he doesn’t have to think, just react. The vast majority of Ian’s errors come when he’s trying to turn a double play. If he were 23, I’d be on the verge of giving up on him, but he’s 21 and doesn’t turn 22 until after the season ends. I still think he has potential, especially in an organization that is STARVED for talent.
