For the second consecutive start, Harrisburg starter Jim Magrane held his own against top Tigers prospect Andrew Miller. Unfortunately for Magrane, Harrisburg had trouble on offense and their relief pitching and defense fell apart in in an 8-1 loss (box score/gamer) to Erie. Magrane pitched seven innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out six and walking three. In his last two match-ups with Miller, Magrane is 0-1 striking out thirteen and allowing only three earned runs on thirteen hits and five walks in 14 innings. The two most recent additions to the bullpen, Josh Perrault and David Trahan struggled in the eighth inning allowing six runs on five hits and one walk. The inning was plagued with sloppy defense by Perrault and second baseman Dan DeMent leading to only one of the six runs being earned.
Josh Whitesell had two singles and DeMent a solo home run accounting for three of the five Harrisburg hits.
