Do you think josh Whitesell could be in the majors soon. The Nationals don't have anyone else at 1B right?
i would like him more at first next season then D. Young

I wonder if Young's signing means the Nats actually do want Young to play the outfield. It would help his diabetes to lose some weight. If this is their thought, then I suppose Ryan Church could actually be on the trading block.

I don't know about Whitesell, but I find it interesting and maybe just a little sad that everyone has decided that Larry Broadway will never get the call. He didn't earn the job in the spring, but he would definitely have been called for his cup of coffee had he not been injured last summer just before Nick Johnson was injured. Since he didn't have that chance to prove himself, the spot was open in the spring, happily leading to Dmitri. But for a guy to get that close, and not get the call, is a shame.

Kevin

Despite his injuries, Broadway has never demonstated that he can hit 30+ homeruns. The firstbase position should be primarliy a power hitting position. After Nick Johnson moves on, the Nats need someone who can hit 55 doubles, 30+ homeruns and 100+RBI and they have no one currently that meets those numbers. If no one materializes in the next few years, they may move Chris Marrero to 1B.

Benji

There could be a bidding war for Dunn. Do you really think Stan Kasten will pay the big $$$ (long term contract and $10/$12 annually minimum) for Dunn.
