Great job!

I assume Detwiler is not rated in the top 10 because his stint in the GCL was so short. Burgess is a really interesting prospect. IIRC, after his junior year in HS, Burgess was expected to be a top 10 pick. Then, he started playing with swing and he fell out of the top 30 (1st round). Looks like he has his mojo back. I'm guessing that if the MLB held the draft at this point Burgess would be back in the top 10.... top 5?

Looking forward to following his climb through the system and evening the balance between position players versus pitchers among the Nats elite prospects.

Atahaulpa Severino, Yhonson Lopez and Smiley Gonzalez both came from DSL, correct? Where did Brad Peacock come from, I don't see him on our lsit of draft picks...

Pilchard - Yeah, Detwiler will make an appearance on the P-Nats review

estuartj - The three you mentioned are all products of the DSL. Peacock was signed this year as a draft-and-follow from the 2006 draft (the Marrero/Willems one).

great job as always. im very excited to see the young talent move up to hagerstown and potomac next year.

I think this is a big year for Englund, hopefully he gets over the injury bug and can put the tools to work.

estartj- Peacock was a draft and follow from the 41st round of the 2006 draft

Michael Burgess and Smolinski are good examples of the scouting staff doing their homework by actually watching, tryouts, etc. instead of reading reports. They could be a Great hitting prospect.

Brian, thanks for the GCL overview. Nice to see some bats. I'm excited about the Vermont arms (as well as a few other scattered throughout the system), but it's good to hear that the position pipeline has more then just a couple prospects.

How does Boomer Whiting rate as a prospect? Looks like he started slow and came on at the end. Led the league in stolen bases.

Yhonson Lopez played second base? That can't be right...he's a left-handed thrower. Does anyone have a boxscore to substantiate that claim? Angel De Castro is listed as a bench player, odd considering he led the GCL Nats in games STARTED.

Steve - Vermont's up next. Whiting is a tough call. He's an incredibly fast guy but it will be interesting to see if he hits enough as he progresses up the organizational ladder

J Mac - Here is the game where Lopez played 2B, it was only a brief appearance. de Castro was listed as a bench player because he did not lead the team at starts at any position. de Castro appears to be a utility player.

Your reports are like being inside organizational meetings. I have been following baseball for years, and have always been interested in prospects, but could only get little tidbits until spring training. Many thanks!
