Any word on Jesús Flores? BTW, an October 8 feature on the Magallanes website holds out high hopes for Flores in the Venezuelan Rookie of the Year competition. (Although he played winter ball last year, he’s still eligible for ROY this season because he didn’t play in the postseason round robin.)

No update on Flores … I’d give it another couple of days.

Jesus Flores only played in 2 games last winter, that’s why he qualifies as a rookie this year.

What is Bergmann doing in the Domincan League? Does the organization want him to pitch more innings for the year? Does the team see him as part of the future rotation?

fernando - Yes. With the time he spent on the DL, the Nationals wanted to get him some more time on the mound. The same thing would hold for Patterson with Licey if he gets healthy enough later this season

Looks like Zenicola is returning to his ‘06 form. What was going on with him this year? And there is a very nice piece on Jesus Flores on the Baseball America website that profiles him along with Asdrubal Cabrera, Ubaldo Jimenez, and Adam Jones as rookies who surprised in ‘07. Makes him sound like the next coming of Jorge Posada–which he may be.

Adam Carr’s Sunday outing included 5 strikeouts to no walks over two scoreless innings. His AFL season makes it appear he could pitch in New Nationals Park in ‘08.
