How much is riding on the Arizona Fall League for next year? Maxwell is not making much of a case for himself, but Zinicola is.

Kevin - Not much. In my opinion, the AFL can only help a player. I believe the Nationals have always intended on starting Maxwell in Harrisburg in 2008 and the only thing that could have changed their mind would be a breakout AFL performance.

Carr is having the breakout AFL so far, especially keeping the walks down. Do you think he can propel himself into the spring contention for bullpen spots on the major league roster. Hard to know how many of those spots there will be, but if Zenicola and Carr add their names to the list making a run at it, does it make trading Rauch or Cordero easier?

I’m not sure the presence of Carr and/or Zinicola make the trading of Rauch or Cordero any more or less likely since they would not be direct their direct replacements. Carr or Zinicola would seem more likely to either bump Chris Schroder or Saul Rivera up a spr or off of the team.

Everyone mark January 15, 2008 on your calendars!
By then JB will have made most of his deals and FA signings. At that time you can start trying to figure out where all the peice will go. Until then it will be a futile exercise. Notice how late Brian fills out his Big Board. There’s a reason.
