This list just seems short in both the A and B catagories

Mitch - It is still early in the process, there are still free agents who have yet to declare. However, the 2007 free agent class is not going to be vast and is going to be very top heavy with 6-7 guys dominating the market financially.

Carlos Silva (RH-SP) of Twins filed for Free Agency and he not a Type A or B free agent. The team that signs him, gives up no draft choices. Mercy me!! In 2007, his stats were: 33 gms/202 IP/4.19 ERA/ 2.5 k:bb ratio. Wow, an innings eater!! Will he re-sign with the Twins? If not, while he’s no Cy Young, he could definitely help the Nationals rotation. Amen Brother!

Jason Jennings (RH-SP) of Astros filed for Free Agency and is not a Type A or B free agent. While he had surgery, he should be back in 2008 maybe by Spring Training. He was a good sinkerball pitcher before the injury and a “risk-reward” GM like Bowden might consider this a good investment. Don’t know what it will take to sign him(simple minor league with promises or major league contract, 40 man roster spot- he can replace Mike O’Connor- and then place him on 15 day DL at the opening of the season if he’s not ready).

would JimBow be interested in Kris Benson as another reclamation project? He was injured all of last year and the O’s declined their option on him for next season making him a FA. He’s not the ace everyone thought he would be, but he averages about 175 IP per season with a 4.34 ERA (although on the Nats that is ace stuff).

Brian,
Do you know what is up with Patterson and Guzman this winter? I thought I read they would both be in winter ball somewhere. So much of 2008 is likely to fall to these two (wish it did not because I feel Nats know now they are not able to produce for a full season, and I can not take anymore of Lopez) it makes me very nervous they are not playing in Nov if they are keys in April.
Are the Nats realistic thinking these two are going to play? If they are not going to play who is? I just keep remembering how NJ and Alex E were being counted on for 2007 at this time last year…….
