Very interesting for me. I was interested in our 9 & 10 picks from 2006 and how they ended up in 2007. I think Joey Rosas was drafted by Texas in the 43rd round (unsigned). It says then he was in Yavapai (Ariz) JC.

So for the Nats to draft him 9th in 2k5 was a big mistake, one of several that draft (with MLB's minimal scouting resources, of course).

Brian,
      You're right about this being esoteric, but stuff like this is what makes your blog so much fun. Thanks.

Great stuff!

FWIW, D’Vontrey Richardson is academically inelgible to play baseball this Spring, but under FSU's sketchy rules, he can participate in Spring football practice. Richardson has claimed that he will play baseball for FSU in 2009 (he had a decent freshman year in 2007 as a baseball player), but I would guess that will depend on his academic standing and on whether how much PT he gets in football.

What does PGCC stand for?

Pilchard - Thanks for the details on Richardson

PGCC = Perfect Game Crosschecker

That's one of the prospect sites I frequent

Wow great work Brian.

I think we're gonna regret missing Dave Stewart and Dave Duncan, hopefully we draft them second time around.

Thanks, very interesting stuff. I know this stuff is really hard to track down. (n.b.: Just looking at the draft lists out of curiosity, I was intrigued that Brandon Hamilton went from a 37th round no-name to a first supplemental round pick in 2007. Then, I noticed that Detroit's 2007 Brandon Hamilton is a pitcher from Alabama born 12/25/88 while the Nationals' 2005 Brandon Hamilton was an outfielder from Louisiana born 7/13/86.)

Dumb question I'm about to ask, but...since I've read that Howie Long, Jr. (yes, the youngest of Howie's kids) is supposedly heading to Florida State--to play BASEBALL--is it too early for us Nats fans to wish him here in OUR minor league system??
     I mean, we ARE talking 3 or 4 years down the road, of course...

FWIW - In the 2006 draft the #28 round pick signed with Ole Miss from Meridian Community College. He did not pitch in 2007 due to shoulder tendonitis. He is currently working his way back to the mound at McNeese State.
