Is Pete Orr being stashed at AAA until they can trade Lopez? He had a great spring (.390 avg.) and would certainly seem a better fit on the bench than Lopez. He stayed in the ’show’ all year with the Braves in 2007. Thanks.

Pete Orr is just biding time. He will only come up to replace a bench guy in Washington.

Where is Boomer Whiting playing this year?

On milb.com they list two additional Clippers as being on the 7-day DL: Tommy Murphy and Tristan Crawford.
Names I haven’t seen on any roster: Booker, Maekawa, Smoker, E. Gonzales, Alexis Morales.

Booker is staying in florida for a couple more weeks to get more game ready since he was signed late.
Maekawa has not been seen at camp.
Smoker most likely will be headed to Vermont, as will Smiley Gonzalez.
Morales is rehabbing in Florida to the best of my knowledge.

There was a post about one month ago that Maekawa was having ‘visa problems’ due to his legal issues in Japan. Has anyone talked to the Nats about that?

The National’s announcers said Lannan would be the opening day starter so he could be in line to replace Shawn Hill if he doesn’t come off the DL and make his scheduled start on the 13th. Who is right? Columbus or National’s announcers?

um, did I miss Brett Myers somewhere? Was he hurt this spring?
Also, I really like that Hagerstown team. Lots of power up and down the lineup, and some hard throwers on the mound. A little suprised Smoker didnt get pushed but I understand.
Great work as always Brian, thanks a lot

I agree with Chris. Hagerstown seems to be the first balanced team to move through the system.

for Steve Horton - It is my understanding that Boomer Whiting is staying in Florida to work on his left handed hitting. I believe they are making him a switch hitter.

was wondering if u can put out a list on the guys that got released and who stayed in extended thankx

When did the Nats re-sign Alex Escobar? I thought that he refused assignment to the minors and declared himself a FA?
Did Alex find that there were no other takers?

nats champ - I have the answers, posting to follow shortly
Pilchard - It was Humberto Cota who refused. Those reports about Escobar were not correct.

I like Nichols a lot. I think he has real talent, and a good approach to hitting in the clutch. He also has a very good arm. That said, I think jumping to Triple A may be a bit much. I thought he should be in Harrisburg or Potomac. I wish him well.

For Suns Fan - Nichols is in Columbus while Estrada is rehabbing. Once Estrada returns, Nichols will be sent elsewhere - probably either Hagerstown or Potomac. He expects to be there 10 days to 2 weeks at most.
