Across the Affiliates 04/07/08

The Clippers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth but rehabbing CA Johnny Estrada flew out to left with the tying run at first as Columbus dropped a 6-4 decision to Charlotte (box/gamer). RHP Tyler Clippard took the loss allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks over four innings of work with five strikeouts. RHPs Steve Shell, Chris Booker, and Brian Sanches provided five innings of three hit/one run relief, striking out a combined seven. LF Alex Escobar was 2/5 with a double, run and RBI. 2B Bret Boone was 3/4 with a pair of RBI. Estrada was 2/5 with one RBI. CF Ryan Langerhans and SS Rey Olmedo each had a pair of hits.

Harrisburg lost a 13-11 slugfest with Akron on Sunday (box/gamer). RHP Josh Hall was torched for eight runs on eight hits and one walk in only three innings of work. LF Mike Daniel was 4/4 with a double, stolen base and two RBI. RF Justin Maxwell was 0/3 with two walks and two runs scored. 1B Luis Jimenez was 2/4 with a run scored and two RBI. 3B Yurendell de Caster was 4/5 with a pair of doubles, home run and four RBI. DH Andrew Lefave was 1/5 with a double and two RBI.

Potomac saw top prospect Ross Detwiler makes his 2008 debut with five shutout innings in a P-Nats 6-1 victory (box/gamer). In those five innigs he allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out seven. RHP Craig Stammen & LHP Jack Spradlin pitched the final two innings allowing only a run on two hits with three strikeouts. 3B Ofilio Castro was 3/4 with a double and one RBI. 1B Chris Marrero was 1/4 with a run scored. DH Marvin Lowrance  and LF  Dee Brown were both 2/4 with a run scored. CA Devin Ivany was 1/3 with two RBI. Notes: RHP Shawn Hill will make a rehab appearance in the P-Nats 2008 home opener.
