The Clippers fell behind 8-0 en route to an 11-5 loss to Durham on Monday evening (box/gamer). LHP Jason Stanford was knocked around for seven earned runs on five hits and two walks over only 2 1/3 innings of work. LHP Charlie Manning threw 2 2/3 innings of solid relief allowing only one hit while striking out five. CF Ryan Langerhans was 1/2 with a three-run home run. RF Kory Casto was 2/5 with a solo home run. LF Alex Escobar was 1/3 with a solo homer. Rehabbing CA Johnny Estrada was 1/4 with a strikeout. He also allowed two stolen bases in as many attempts (over three games, he’s allowed 10/11 SB).
Tonight: Columbus LHP Mike O’Connor (0-0, 0.00) faces off with Durham RHP Jeff Niemann (0-1, 1.80) at 7:05PM
After falling behind early 3-0, the Senators rallied for the next 12 runs and held off the Erie Sea Wolves 12-5 (box/gamer). 3B Yurendell de Caster was 3/4 with five RBI on a double and three-run home runs. SS Ian Desmond was 2/4 with a double, solo homer and three RBI. CF Justin Maxwell was 2/3 with two walks, two runs and two stolen bases. RF Roger Bernadina was 3/5 with a double, run scored and one RBI. RHP Marco Estrada picked up his first win of the season with five innings of work allowing three runs on five hits and three walks.
Tonight: Harrisburg RHP Ismael Ramirez (0-0, 0.00) takes on Erie RHP Josh Rainwater (1-0, 0.00) at 6:05PM
The Potomac Nationals have their season opener at 7:05PM this evening against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Rehabbing RHP Shawn Hill will take the mound to start the game but reports have RHP Jordan Zimmermann (NR), one of their 2008 second round draft pick, also seeing work.
Hagerstown also get back to action this evening after a Monday off-day. The Suns are on the road in New Jersey taking on the BlueClaws at 6:35PM. Pitchers still TBD.
