BOONE HEADS HOME
Bret Boone has been transferred to the temporary inactive list after leaving the Clippers on Friday. He did not make the return trip from Durham, instead, he flew to his home in southern California.
Boone told teammates that he is hopeful to land a spot in the majors, possibly outside the Nationals organization.

Would anyone actually trade for him? Or would he retire, then resign with someone else who could offer a major league spot?

Basically, he gave the Nat’s two weeks to trade him and played fairly well for the Clipper during that stretch. There is a good interview with Bret on the Clipper’s announcer’s site. He talked with Scott Leo Thursday in Charlotte before he left for SoCal. But, at this point there is no reason for anyone to trade more than a bag of balls for him when next week they can sign him for free after he is “retired” or released.

New balls or used balls?
