Today, the Nationals made several moves involving their catchers.
- CA Patrick Nichols was moved from Double-A Harrisburg to extended spring training
- CA Devin Ivany was promoted from High-A Potomac to Double-A Harrisburg
- CA Jhonathan Solano was promoted from Low-A Hagerstown to High-A Potomac
- CA Sean Rooney who was rehabbing from a concussion in extended spring training was re-added to the Low-A Hagerstown roster
Nichols has been all over the place thus far in 2008, playing four games in both Triple-A Columbus and Double-A Harrisburg. Between the two rosters, he got only 14AB with one hit. Solano was the primary catcher for the Suns hitting 218/302/309 over 55AB with a home run and five RBI. Rooney ha dplayed only three games for the Suns (143/250/143) prior to his concussion from a collision at the plate.

Still looking for a move involving Stephen King. He disappeared from the Suns roster last week the same time Rooney did

Brian-
I haven’t seen Stephen Souza the past few games. Do you think they could have sent him back to extended to learn to play SS. An SS with that bat would be huge. I guess that would put him in conflict with Smiley though.

Carol - Still working on getting an answer but it appears he was sent to extended spring training
John- I’ll ask the question about Souza but from what I know, he is still with Hagerstown

Stephen King is on the 7-day DL according to MiLB.com. I believe it’s a hamstring injury if memory serves.

It was a hamstring injury but from what I have been told he was sent back to extended spring training in Florida. What I am attempting to figure out is whether or not it is part of a rehab effort.
