A small suggestion, Brian: You might want to, after each game summary, note parenthetically the team's record (second half record once we get there for those leagues), what place they are in in their division, and how many games they are either in front or behind the leader. This would be especially useful and interesting this year, with Harrisburg and Potomac both in first and Columbus and Hagerstown in contention.

Steven - Great suggestion. I'll make note to update the posts with that information. It was certainly more depressing to see that every day in years past

Steve Doetsch was not released. He has been sent to Extended to allow him to convert to a pitcher.

Not to worry about Detwiler - the box score doesn't quite tell the story of yesterday's game. Play in the field had much more to do with the score than what it appears in cold, hard numbers. He actually pitched a decent game and is showing much better control than earlier in the season.

Does anyone know if Detwiler's lack of success (at least compared to, say, Zimmermann) is due to the Nats attempts to either change his delivery or work on a pitch?

Montz is absolutely killing the ball. His numbers are absurd. What do we make of this with Flores sitting ahead of him? I guess injuries have been a concern, but the organization has to be taking notice.

Andrew - The Nationals have to be excited to actually be building some degree of catching depth. Montz is now catching some of the most promising pitchers in the Nationals organization (Zimmermann, VanAllen, Martis to name a few). I'm not sure what value would be added/removed by bumping Montz up at the expense of Flores.

Agreed. This is the first time Montz has had such success and he should get to enjoy it for a while in Harrisburg. The Harrisburg Senators are beginning to look like the Nats of the future. I hope Van Allen, Zimmermann and Zinicola can repeat their success at the higher level.
