Smolinski looks like he shook off the rust in May so far. Hitting .317 with a 4:3 BB:K ratio comparted to .210 in April with a 7:24 B:K ratio.

Brian -- what's the deal with Yunior Novoa? He's been pitching great in relief for Potomac so far this year. Last year he was primarily a starter for Hagerstown and was just okay. Who made the decision to make him a reliever? So far, this decision has been great. He's only 23 (24 in Sept.). Is he considered a "prospect" lefty bullpen arm, or just organizational filler?

e - From what I have heard/read, his future was most likely in the pen. He's a bit old for the Carolina League but the numbers are nice. I'd hope he gets a shot in Harrisburg soon to see if he's legit. If he were to turn into a lefthanded option out of a major league pen, I'm sure the Nats would consider that a rousing success.

For those who may not have seen it, here is the feature on Jack McGeary from Tuesday's SF Chronicle:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/05/13/SPOM10L4FO.DTL

This kid really has his act together. Am I correct in assuming that he will be reporting to Vermont once he is done with finals?

This is probably because I'm jaded by what Wieters is doing for the O's, but I wish we were seeing more out of Detwiler at this point. He hasn't been terrible, but...
