O’Connor allowed only one unearned run on three hits and one walk while striking out four. RHP Brian Sanches picked up his eighth save of the season with a perfect ninth. RF Kory Casto (2/4 with a double) was the star on offense, driving in three of the Clippers four runs and scoring the fourth. DH Alex Escobar extended his hitting streak to fifteen games with a single. SS Ed Rogers (1/2) scored twice for Columbus.

Harrisburg gained a series split with New Britain as RHP Marco Estrada and afour relievers combined to shut down the Rock Cats 5-2 (box/gamer). Estrada is now 5-2 on the season after six strong innings allowing two runs on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts. In May, Estrada is 3-0 with a 1.25 ERA and 0.88 WHIP over four starts with 23 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings of work. LHP Tim Bittner and RHPs Beltran Perez, Levale Speigner, & Steve Schmoll combined on the final three scoreless innings of relief with Schmoll getting his third save of the season. RF Garrett Guzman was 3/5 with a double, run scored and three RBI. CA Luke Montz went 1/3 with a home run and two RBI. 3B Ofilio Castro was 2/4 with a double and a run scored. And CF Roger Bernadina was 1/5 with his 16th stolen base of the season. Notes: Per Harrisburg’s Terry Byrom, Justin Maxwell has missed hte last couple of games with a sore right wrist he injured diving for a ball on Monday. He is expected back in the lineup this weekend.

Potomac blasted Wilmington 10-3 in the rubber match on Wednesday to take the series from the Blue Rocks (box/gamer). RHP Adrian Alaniz is now a perfect 6-0 on the season, going 5 1/3 innings allowing three runs on three hits and four walks with four strikeouts. He was unusually wild yesterday, going much deeper into counts than he had in previous starts. RHP Martin Beno made his Potomac debut with a scoreless ninth inning, walking one and striking out one. 3B Leonard Davis was 1/4 with a two-run home run. CF Frank Diaz (1/4) and SS Seth Bynum (2/4) each had a solo home run for the P-Nats. DH Marvin Lowrance had three RBI and 2B Matt Rogelstad was 2/5 with a double and triple.

Hagerstown battered Lexington pitching for seven runs and fourteen hits as the Suns beat the Legends 7-2 in the third game of their four-game series (box/gamer). Every Suns player had at least one hit with the exception of DH Boomer Whiting. RF Michael Burgess was at the forefront with three hits (including a triple) and three RBI. LF Aaron Seuss was 2/4 with two RBI and one run scored. SS Dan Lyons, 1B Bill Rhinehart, and CA Sean Rooney all had two hits for the Suns. RHP Luis Atilano made the start and pitched four strong innings, allowing only one run on two hits and one walk while striking out five. RHP Justin Phillabaum picked up his first win with two innings of relief. And, RHP Edulin Abreu tallied his third save of the season with three scoreless innings of relief.

Wondering anyone’s thoughts on whether Dan Lyons should be promoted to the next level… I think he gets forgotten about because of his size and lack of flash (certainly the best prospect lists ignore him), yet he’s fought for every level he’s gotten to - he does all of the little things and is fundamentally sound. Watched him here in Minnesota during college and summer college ball. I see a 27 year old SS at advanced A - is it time to say goodbye to him and give Lyons a chance at the next level?

Yes - Garrett is currently in Extended.
