RHP Tyler Clippard went six strong shutout innings, allowing only three hits and one walk as the Clippers defeated Buffalo 5-1 on Sunday afternoon (box/gamer). He struck out six Bison batters to move to 3-4 on the season. RF Kory Casto continued his torrid pace in May with another two hits and two RBI. Casto’s two-run home run in the second was his second in seven May games, he’s batting 462/548/808 with twelve hits and ten RBI. 3B Ed Rogers (1/3) also had a two-run homer, SS Rey Olmedo was 3/4 with a stolen, triple and two runs scored, and CA David Wallace was 2/3 with one RBI and run scored. Pokey Reese made his debut for the Clippers playing LF, going 0/4 with a strikeout.

Harrisburg was routed again by Connecticut, falling 9-2 to Connecticut (box/gamer). RHP Beltran Perez allowed seven runs (four earned) on six hits and four walks in a spot start for the Senators. LHP Yunior Novoa made his first appearance for Harrisburg, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over three innings pitched. CF Roger Bernadina was 2/4 with a triple, runs, and RBI. In May, Bernadina is hitting 333/390/560 with six triples over 97AB. CA Luke Montz was 2/4 with a double and RF Justin Maxwell was 0/3 with two RBI. Notes: RHP Tristan Crawford was placed on the DL to open up a roster spot for Novoa.

LHP Ross Detwiler struck out nine batters for his second straight start as the P-Nats doubled up the Salem Avalanche 6-3 on Sunday afternoon (box/gamer). Detwiler moved to 4-2 on the season allowing three runs on six hits and three walks. In May, he has s gone 3-1 with a 3.76ERA and 1.37WHIP with 33 strikeouts in 26 1/3IP. RHP Clint Everts picked up the save with three hitless shutout innings of relief, striking out four. 2B Matt Rogelstad was 2/5 with a double and two RBI; LF Dee Brown was 2/3 with a stolen base and to runs scored; and 3B Leonard Davis, CF Francisco Plasencia and CA Jhonathan Solano each had an RBI. Notes: Still no word regarding the replacement for Yunior Novoa on the Potomac roster.

LF Aaron Seuss was 2/6 with a run and two RBI, CF Boomer Whiting was 1/4 with a run, RBI, and his eleventh stolen base of the season, 1B Bill Rhinehart was 1/3 with a double and two more RBI (he now has a team-leading 47), and RF Michael Burgess was 2/6 with a triple, run and RBI. RHP Cole Kimball made the start allowing five runs on four hits and five walks over 2 2/3IP. RHP Erik Arnesen picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings of relief allowing only one run on four hits while striking out three. RHP Chris Lugo picked up his first save with three innings of relief.
