Busy transactional day …
OF Frank Diaz was promoted from Potomac to Columbus. He is replacing IF/OF Pokey Reese who played all of one game for the Clippers before going on the DL.
No word on the replacement for Diaz in Potomac.

I thought they signed Pokey because Columbus is thin on MI’s right now. Why would they bring up an OF from Potomac (I know Diaz played in AA last year, but still)?
Why wouldn’t they bring up a MI from Harrisburg? Offilio Castro, Marcos Yepez, Ian Desmond or William Bergolla could fill in for a few games until Pete Orr comes back.

Pete Orr is back. Added to the roster when they put OF Jorge Padilla on the DL earlier this week

Interesting call-up.
Diaz hitting .256/.299/.366 in A ball, .231 over the last 10 games.

Pretty obvious pattern here: rather than have a true prospect from AA lose playing time, the organization thinks it’s better to use a roster-filler from high-A to sit the bench. Same thing happened with Stammen earlier this season (Sunday was an exception, although his pattern of getting smacked hard on the 2nd time through the lineup did stil happen).
