I have been listening to the Senators game at my desk this afternoon.
Not a bad finish.
After it appeared Harrisburg was going to waste an amazing out by RHP Jordan Zimmermann. Zimmermann allowed only one run on three hits over seven innings of work with two walks and nine strikeouts. He sounded like he was in control the entire game.
However, the Senators left eight runners on base (in scoring position in the 1st, 3rd, 5th & 8th).
That brought it to the 9th, where the Senators had Marvin Lowrance at 2nd base (on a double) with two outs. Both Matt Rogelstad & Seth Bynum worked the count, each earning a walk to set the stage for Garrett Guzman.
With the outfield in, Guzman ripped a ball to the gap, clearing the bases for a Senators win and four-game sweep of the Bowie Bay Sox heading into their All-Star break.

Even that HR that J Zimm gave up wasn’t that bad, considering the guy that hit it was a 8 year minor leaguer/former 3rd overall pick. Zimm has been looking good in his last couple starts, but I doubt he will get called up until later next year.

I think, now that Wily Mo is done for the year, I’d like to point out Chris Carter is absolutely tearing it up for Boston in Pawtucket. He was even better in Tucson (Arizona, AAA) last year.
Nice move, Bowden.

The WMP trade doesn’t bother me since Carter was never in our system anyway, but with Young hurting (and NJ and Boone on the DL), losing Josh Whitesell looks like a major gaffe to me!

The news that Escobar has been released is odd. He wasn’t having a bad year, and he wasn’t hurt. Who better to bring up to replace WMP?

Wish we had Whitesell still! But a sweep over Bowie is awesome!! Hope that translates to the big leagues soon!
