UPDATE 7:25PM: Today’s game is listed as suspended meaning the two teams will resume the game tomorrow with the GCL Nationals trailing 5-1
UPDATE: Got the word from the Nationals Bill Gluvna that the GCL Nationals game got a late start. It’s currenty underway. Not sure if we are going to get the real time updates from MiLB.com
LHP Jack McGeary takes the mound in game two of the best-of-three GCL Championship series against the GCL Phillies with the GCL Nats up one game to none.
- BOX
- RECAP (I’ll update both as the links are ready)
The DSL Nationals1 take on the DSL Angels at 10:30AM. I do not imagine their box score will be updated real time.

Let’s hope the real time updates don’t take the weekend off

Either we are not going to see real time updates or there is rain

From Pete McElroy’s blog on the MASN site re. Smoker’s early exit yesterday:
If you’re wondering why Smoker only lasted 1 2/3 innings, it’s becuase there is a rule that pitchers at the rookie level can only throw a maximum of 40 pitches per inning and Smoker reached that limit in the second.

Game has been cancelled due to rain…2 games to be played tomorrow in Viera if necessary

Good that the game has been canceled, maybe now they can regroup and come back strong tomorrow. I hope!!!

With Hagerstown’s season ending tomorrow and O.Rodriguez having pitches just yesterday - any chance they promote him to Potomac for the playoffs?
What is the cutoff for minor league playoff rosters? It seems like dirty pool to demote someone like Zimmermann or VanAllen (or Rhinehart, etc) for the Carolina League Playoffs, but promoting from the Sally League seem ok to me…

I’m pretty sure it’s too late for demotions and it might be too late for promotions at this point

I heard that the Carolina League allows a player to be “dropped down” if he had been on the roster for 2/3rds of the season. Whether that’s games played or days was not specified, but I think most of you guys can do the math (i.e. who’s been sent up/down since ~7/24) and realize that that eliminates most of the guys that were promoted to Harrisburg.
