Columbus lost 7-1 to Toledo (box). RHP Craig Stammen allowed four runs on nine hits over 7IP with four strikeouts. LHP Mike Hinckley pitched a scoreless eighth, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out two. RHP Zech Zinicola  allowed three runs on four hits and one walk in his one inning of work. LF Frank Diaz was 2/4; CA Luke Montz was 1/3 with arun scored; and CF Roger Bernadina was 1/4.

Harrisburg split a doubleheader with Bowie, winning the first game 4-2 behind strong pitching from RHP Jordan Zimmermann and three RBI from RF Edgardo Baez before dropping the nightcap 8-3 (box1/box2/gamer). Zimmermann allowed a run on four hits and one walk over 5IP while striking out eight in his final Harrisburg appearance of 2008. Baez was 2/3 with a triple, run & three RBI and 3B Ofilio Castro was 2/3 with a double & two runs scored. In the second game, LHP Cory VanAllen  allowed five runs (three earned) on nine hits and one walk over 3 2/3IP. RHP Adam Carr allowed three runs on two walks and a home run in 1 1/3IP. 3B Marco Yepez was 1/2 with a walk & RBI; LF Marvin Lowrance was 1/2 with a walk, double & RBI; and SS Ian Desmond was 1/3 with a double.

Potomac was blasted by Wilmington 14-1 (box/gamer). RHP Hassan Pena allowed seven runs (three earned) on nine hits and four walks over 5IP; he struck out three, threw a wild pitch & balked. RHP Martin Beno did not retire a batter allowing seven runs (six earned) on one hit and five walks. RHP Kyle Gunderson threw two scoreless innings of relief, allowing three hits and one walk with two strikeouts. CA Patrick Nichols was 2/4 and 2B Matt Rogelstad was 1/4 with one RBI.

LHP Ryan Buchter blew the save but picked up the win in relief, allowing a run on four hits and a walk over 3 2/3IP with four strikeouts. 3B Jake Rogers was 1/3 with arun & RBI; 2B Blake Stouffer was 1/3 with one RBI; and SS Jose Lozada was 1/2 with three walks & a solo home run.

Vermont could not comeback at Tri-City, falling 12-7 (box/gamer). With Patrick Arnold down in the GCL for the playoffs and P.J. Dean’s season done with a tired arm (check the gamer), the Monsters called on RHP Randy Matias who lasted only 2/3 of an inning allowing three runs on two hits, one walk and one HBP with one strikeout. RHP Johan Figuereo had a very wild evening to take the loss, over his three innings of work, he allowed three runs on three hits, two walks and three HBP. He did strikeout five but also threw two wild pitches and balked once. The Monsters had only seven hits but managed to make fourteen times. DH Jake Smolinski was 2/5 with a pair of doubles, two runs, two walks & two RBI; SS Danny Espinosa was 2/4 with two walks; CA Derek Norris was 0/2 with three walks; LF Jake Dugger was 1/3 with a two-run homer, three RBI, two runs & two walks; and 2B James Keithley was 1/3 with a solo home run, two runs, two RBI & two walks.

The DSL Nationals1 were shutout by the DSL Angels 5-0, evening their series up at one game each (box). Juan Martinez started for the DSL Nats, allowing just one run on three hits and two walks over 6IP with 12 strikeouts. Carmelo Reyes surrendered four runs (three earned) on five hits in just 1 1/3 innings of relief. The Nats had only five hits on offense, rF Angelberth Montilla was 2/4; 2B Hendry Jimenez was 1/3 with a stolen base; CF Eury Perez was 1/3 with a double; and DH Dani Taveras was 1/3. Notes: In the other DSL series, the DSL Mariners also evened up their best-of-five series with an 8-4 win over the DSL Giants.
