RHP Andrew Kown moved to 3-0 on the season for the Clippers allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk over 6IP with five strikeouts. The GCL Nationals lost the GCL Championship two games to one, dropped both games on Sunday to the GCL Phillies 5-4 (box) and 9-0 (box). LHP Jack McGeary took the loss in game one allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over 3 1/3IP with six strikeouts. LHP Graham Hicks made a strong second professional appearance, taking over on Sunday morning. Hicks allowed one hit and one walk over 3 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. 3B Ronnie Labrie was 3/5 with a run scored. DH J.P. Ramirez was 3/4 with a double. 2B Steve Lombardozzi was 2/4 with a run scored. CA Sandy Leon was 1/3 with a double and run scored. Both CF Chris Curran and SS Smiley Gonzalez were 1/5 with a double.
In the second game, RHP Marcos Frias took the loss allowing four unearned runs on four hits over 4IP. RHP Paul Demny allowed a run on three hits and two walks over 1 2/3IP. SS Smiley Gonzalez was 2/3 and 3B Ronnie Labrie was 1/2, accounting for the only three GCL Nationals hits.
The DSL Nationals1 scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat the DSL Angels 4-3 and move ahead two games to one in their best-of-five series (box). RHP Armado De Los Santos allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over 3 1/3 innings of his start. RHP Wilson Eusebio pitched two scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out three. RHP Rube De La Rosa picked up the win with two shutout innings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two. CF Eury Perez was 1/3 with a stolen base. CA Ricardo Martinez was 0/3 with two RBI. 3B Adrian Sanchez was 1/1 with three walks, a run and stolen base. Notes: In the other DSL series, the DSL Giants edged the DSL Mariners 8-7 with two runs in the bottom of the ninth, to take a two games to one lead in their best-of-five series.
