Sixth inning home runs by 2B Leonard Davis and RF Kory Casto led Columbus to a 7-5 victory over Toledo (box/gamer). Davis was 2/4 with a double, solo home run & two RBI an Casto was 1/4 with a two-run homer. CF Roger Bernadina was 2/5 with a double, triple & two runs scored. DH Frank Diaz was 3/4 with a double, triple, & RBI. And, 3B Yurendell de Caster was 2/3 with a run scored. RHP Andrew Kown moved to 3-0 on the season for the Clippers allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk over 6IP with five strikeouts. RHP Zech Zinicola allowed a run on one hit and two walks over 2IP with two strikeouts and RHP Ryan Wagner pitched the final inning for his first save. Notes: No word on the moves the Clippers will make to replace the six players they are losing via promotion (Kory Casto, Roger Bernadina, Alberto Gonzalez, Shairon Martis, Mike Hinckley and Levale Speigner).

Harrisburg fell 7-3 to Bowie as RHP Bobby Brownlie allowed six runs over his 6 1/3IP (box/gamer). Brownlie allowed nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts. SS Ian Desmond was 2/5 with a double. 2B Seth Bynum was 1/4 with his 15th home run for Harrisburg. LF Marvin Lowrance was 2/4 with a solo home run, two runs & a stolen base.

Potomac managed only three hits in a 2-0 shutout loss in Wilmington (box/gamer). 2B Michael Martinez was 1/2 with a triple, two walks and his 25th stolen base of the season. LF Dee Brown was 1/4 with a double. And, CF Boomer Whiting was 1/3 with a stolen base. RHP Jeff Mandel took the loss allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over 6IP with five strikeouts. LHP Atahaulpa Severino pitched two scoreless innings of relief, walking one and striking out two.

Hagerstown (box/gamer). RHP Chris Lugo made the spot start, picking up the win giving up four runs on seven hits over 5 2/3IP with seven strikeouts. RHP Dan Leatherman struck out four over 2 1/3IP allowing one run on two hits and one walk. RHP Justin Phillabaum picked up the save with a scoreless ninth. DH Tim Pahuta was 3/4 with two home runs and four RBI. CA Sean Rooney was 2/4 with a run scored. 1B Robby Jacobsen was 2/3 with a double and run scored

A five-run seventh inning spurred Vermont to a 7-4 victory over Tri-City (box/gamer). CF Marcus Jones was 2/4 with a walk and run scored. 3B Steve Souza was 3/5 with a double, run and three RBI. 1B James Keithley was 2/5 with a home run and three RBI. LF Jake Dugger was 1/4 with a double, RBI and two runs. RHP Jose Pinales started for the Monsters, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks over 4IP with one strikeout. RHP Carlos Peralta picked up the win with three innings of shutout relief, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out six. LHP Austin Garrett picked up his second save getting the final out. Notes: 1B Dmitri Young will join the Monsters on a rehab assignment. Joining him in Vermont will be LHP Graham Hicks (thanks Danny), RHP Patrick Arnold and one or two other pitchers (thanks Carol).

The GCL Nationals lost the GCL Championship two games to one, dropped both games on Sunday to the GCL Phillies 5-4 (box) and 9-0 (box). LHP Jack McGeary took the loss in game one allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over 3 1/3IP with six strikeouts. LHP Graham Hicks made a strong second professional appearance, taking over on Sunday morning. Hicks allowed one hit and one walk over 3 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. 3B Ronnie Labrie was 3/5 with a run scored. DH J.P. Ramirez was 3/4 with a double. 2B Steve Lombardozzi was 2/4 with a run scored. CA Sandy Leon was 1/3 with a double and run scored. Both CF Chris Curran and SS Smiley Gonzalez were 1/5 with a double.

In the second game, RHP Marcos Frias took the loss allowing four unearned runs on four hits over 4IP. RHP Paul Demny allowed a run on three hits and two walks over 1 2/3IP. SS Smiley Gonzalez was 2/3 and 3B Ronnie Labrie was 1/2, accounting for the only three GCL Nationals hits.

The DSL Nationals1 scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat the DSL Angels 4-3 and move ahead two games to one in their best-of-five series (box). RHP Armado De Los Santos allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over 3 1/3 innings of his start. RHP Wilson Eusebio pitched two scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out three. RHP Rube De La Rosa picked up the win with two shutout innings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two. CF Eury Perez was 1/3 with a stolen base. CA Ricardo Martinez was 0/3 with two RBI. 3B Adrian Sanchez was 1/1 with three walks, a run and stolen base. Notes: In the other DSL series, the DSL Giants edged the DSL Mariners 8-7 with two runs in the bottom of the ninth, to take a two games to one lead in their best-of-five series.
